Our history<\/h2>\n

Our company has a long history in developing, producing and selling round charcoal tablets. The company’s founder, Ren\u00e9 Sch\u00f6nefeld, was the son of a Dutch pharmacist and one of the first to develop quick-lighting charcoal. It has been produced in the Netherlands since 1936. Using only the best ingredients combined with 80-year-old production techniques, the tablets light quickly, are odourless and have a smooth, long and even burn. When shisha users became aware of the extraordinary characteristics of the charcoal, the brand\u2019s growth took flight. Nowadays we have customers all over the world.<\/p>\n

In 1970, Leo Heijmans, who joined the company in 1945, took over the company and sold the business to the Koster family thirteen years later. After the takeover, the Koster family built a larger, more modern factory in the Dutch town of Bladel. To this day, Ren\u00e9 Sch\u00f6nefeld remains in the hands of the Koster family, with Gerben Boersma at the head of the company.<\/p>\n

For over 80 years, we have been creating charcoal with innovative production techniques. All raw materials we use are sourced in Europe. To maintain the highest quality, we continually search for the very best raw materials. Our products are produced in the Netherlands. To ensure consistency and premium quality we have in-house production and create our own recipes.<\/p>\n

This also requires a good team. The NEO team consists of strong and skilled employees. By listening to our customers, we can adequately respond to the wishes and needs of the users and keep developing our products.<\/p>\n
